StarEFX™ Ceiling Installation FAQs

Q: What is the ceiling drop height?

38mm (1.496") from plaster (drywall) ceiling

110mm (4.33") for concrete ceilings fitted with timber batons

Q: Can ceiling speakers be installed? 

Yes

Q: Can downlights be installed? 

LED downlights must have a heat-protective cover around the heatsink 

Q: Can air vents be installed? 

Most smaller sized vents up to 450x450mm (17.71"x17.71") can be fitted on the face side of the StarEFX panels. 

Q: Can the panels be removed after installation? 

Yes. It is recommended for an authorised installer to remove the panels due to the small amount of tolerance between panels.

Q: Which ceilings can the StarEFX™ be installed onto?

Can be installed onto a plaster (drywall) and concrete ceilings however, timber batons need to be fitted to concrete ceilings for the StarEFX™ ceiling to be fixed onto the batons.

Q: I have another room above my home theatre room, do I need access from above?

No, the installation is done from beneath the ceiling. A general power outlet, however, is required in the ceiling cavity.

Q: How is the StarEFX™ system installed?

The modular StarEFX panel is a Do-It-Yourself installation fixed onto the exisiting plaster (drywall) ceiling with 6 screws. It requires a power outlet for the StarEFX 12v power supply to be plugged into.

The StarEFX integrated ceiling is installed by authorised LightEFX dealers, however, builders and trades can install them with a brief training on the installation process. Contact LightEFX for further details.

Q: Can my builder install the StarEFX™ ceiling?

Yes, provided the builder has done the initial installation briefing.

Q: How long is the installation process? 

As a guide -   

Up to 10sqm - Half a day

Up to 11-20sqm - Full day

Up to 21-30sqm - Day and half

Up to 31-40sqm - Two days

Q: Can LED strip lighting be installed with a StarEFX™ ceiling system?

Yes, LightEFX needs to be advised to allow the provision supporting the LED strip.
