Fiber optic lighting and natural daylight are two areas where LightEFX excels. Our architectural lighting designs incorporate innovative lighting technologies for an awe-inspiring experience that draws upon various visual elements to create a dream-like environment.
The use of fiber optics is very underrated, and as a result, many lighting designers do not recognize its capabilities and applications. As a leading provider and designer of fiber optic technologies, we utilize lighting dynamics that encourage visual engagement. For example, the Imagination Tree in the children's ward at Monash Hospital combines colored lighting, crystal ball pendants, shooting stars and starlight design triggered by the Pharos control gear. The lighting animations are sequenced with the theme and music to create an amazing setting for children and adults.
Fiber optic lighting technology allows us to create animated effects without bulbs or LED fixtures at the endpoints. As a result, many thousands of fiber fixtures glow brightly without power, eliminating the need to replace failed or burnt out globes.
In terms of conventional lighting maintenance, replacing a burnt-out LED can cost more than the cost of the fixture. This is where fiber optic lighting is advantageous; as long as the light source remains connected to the fiber cables, light transmits to the fixtures.
The light-emitting from a 'point source of light' is known since it has a constant power source to generate the predetermined light output. However, what happens when artificial light transmits through a medium without power? Since the fiber optic cable is not a point source of light, we cannot say that a particular fiber cable will always emit a given light level.
A fiber optic lighting system's point source of light is the illuminator. Determining the lighting output at the fixture for a given application requires modelling. Several factors influence the light output of fiber cables, including their length, diameter, side or end emitting, the number of bends, and the illuminator's output. We work closely with you to understand your desired outcome and provide a solution to meet that goal.
As building envelopes, building's sizes and the overshadowing caused by adjacent buildings and structures become larger and more complex, daylight in architecture becomes increasingly challenging to bring into the indoor environment.
Simply increasing the size of the glazing or light well does not always allow enough daylight to enter deep into the indoor environment where it is needed. Window size also can increase energy consumption in cooling and heating the indoor space.
What is a more effective way to introduce daylight? As windows play an essential role in the glazing to floor ratio, LightEFX introduces concentrated solar light that penetrates deeper and to the lower levels of the building. We add skylight heliostats or solar collectors onto atriums and rooftops and redirect sunlight with lenses and mirrors. In addition to meeting your building's daylighting requirements, our sunlight delivery systems can be used as an alternative to grow lights for plants.
In addition, our hybrid daylighting technology is combined with LED dimmable lighting for an even more efficient lighting system conserving bulb energy. When light sensing is in place, LED lighting can operate autonomously in response to changes in daylight throughout the day.
It is common to misrepresent daylight calculation and artificial light in architectural visualization in order to promote the project and create a visually appealing model. As a LightEFX customer, you receive lighting calculations for visual representation for your clients and submission to councils.
No one knows their lighting like the people responsible for its development, and LightEFX is that company. Research & Design, manufacture, installation - we have experience in all aspects of how our innovative lighting systems function, from the conceptual stage to the finished installation.
Whether it is a large-scale project or one that demands attention to the finest detail, customers can always be confident that our qualified and knowledgeable team will deliver the best results possible.
We tailor all work to meet the demands of the project at hand and the specific needs of our customers. We take the time to work closely with clients to design and develop a lighting solution that is as individual as it is eye-catching. Specializing in creating energy-efficient alternatives, from dazzling animations to virtually maintenance-free ambient lighting. Or, if you plan to achieve sunlight for green growth or introduce daylight into unusable grey areas, LightEFX has the team and technology available.
