One of the most significant issues we have seen to date is the propaganda behind LED pool strip lighting and how LED strip lights are marketed as “the best option” in pool perimeter lighting compared to fiber optics.

LED strips in swimming pools have become increasingly popular over the last decade. Unfortunately, what seems to be a cost-effective lighting feature creates headaches for electricians and pool owners.
The IP68-rated LED strip lighting is waterproof. However, it is important to note that most LED strips, despite being rated IP68, are not designed to withstand chlorinated or salted water environments. Furthermore, LED strips generate heat, so keeping them cool when a pool's water is being heated adversely affects the LED strip's lifespan. This is because the LEDs are not operating within their optimal operating range.
Heat, air, and treated water mixtures create the perfect environment for oxidization, leading to corrosion and failure of the LEDs, costing more in replacement and overall a nuisance due to the same issue repeating over time.
LEDs are promoted as having life spans greater than 30,000 plus hours. This is true provided the correct conditions have been met. Poorly made heat sinks, aluminum mounting tracks, and power inputs play an important role in the lifespan of LEDs, if any or all of these components are not correctly adhered to, the lifespan of the LEDs is dramatically reduced.
Another factor to consider when installing powered lighting is the opportunity for electricity and water contact. There have been a number of issues worldwide including fatal incidents with low voltage lighting in Florida, United States, a risk you would want to remove by all means necessary when choosing the most appropriate lighting.
LightEFX introduces a fiber optic system for perimeter lighting. The benefit of fiber optics is that it only carries light and no power. There are no LEDs or bulbs in the fiber cable, only fiber optic strands in-cased in a clear UV protective sheath. The fiber optic light cable transmits only light from the light source called the illuminator.
This immediately removes the risk of water and electricity contact and reduces maintenance costs. There will never be any failed LED dark spots or the need to replace faulty LEDs in the fiber cable. It distributes a clean, cold light throughout the perimeter of the pool, making it a fine choice for your backyard wonderland.
The LED light source unit (illuminator) connected to the fiber optic cable is appropriately designed for a long life span. This means there is little chance of lamp replacement before 30,000 hours, an extremely low maintenance option.
Illuminators are installed in a convenient location, preferably in the pool pump area for any maintenance servicing requirements and future upgrades. IP43 illuminators are made of stainless steel 304 and are suitable for outdoor storage.
