In 2021, LightEFX was thrilled to collaborate with Channel 9's hit show 'The Block' contestants Ronnie and Georgia, a dynamic duo known for their innovative design and renovation prowess. Our mission? To transform their home theatre room into a dazzling star-studded spectacle that would captivate the hearts of fans and judges alike.
For those who may not be aware, 'The Block' is a popular reality show that has become a cornerstone of Australian television. Each season, intrepid pairs are tasked with the renovation of houses under strict budgets and timelines. These renovated houses are then auctioned, and the team that achieves the highest bid above their reserve price is declared the winner.
Ronnie and Georgia, first seen in the 2017 season, are seasoned veterans who returned to compete in the 2021 all-stars season, 'Fans vs. Favs.' Known for their eye-catching designs and ability to think outside the box, they were eager to impress with their home theatre room.
During the crucial 'Home Theatre Week,' the fourth week of the 2021 season, Ronnie and Georgia sought to elevate their design to the next level. They envisioned a room where the ceiling wouldn't just be a ceiling but an enchanting night sky, a hero and centerpiece of their home theatre.
To bring their vision to life, they reached out to LightEFX, who are renowned for design and installation of starry night ceilings. We were more than thrilled to step up to the plate and deliver a solution that would exceed their expectations.
The StarEFX™ integrated ceiling system was the ideal choice for this endeavor. This system is designed to create an enchanting star-lit scene on acoustic tiles, adding both visual appeal and soundproofing to enhance the cinematic sound experience.
Our team of lighting professionals meticulously designed the starry night sky, ensuring each star was perfectly placed. The result was a breathtaking color-changing skyline complete with twinkling stars and shooting star animations, adding an extra layer of magic to the home theatre room.
"That is magical. Shooting stars! That is incredible!"
– Darren Palmer (interior designer and one of The Block's judges)
But the magic didn't stop at the visual spectacle. The starry ceiling is fully integrated into the home's automation system. This means the ceiling can be customized and programmed according to the homeowner's preferences. From sequencing and color transitions to light intensity, twinkling speed, and more, everything is customizable.
Upon the movie's commencement, the automation system dims the starlight, ensuring no shooting stars distract viewers during the movie. And when the film ends, the StarEFX™ ceiling returns to its default settings with random shooting stars, creating a perfect end to a cinematic experience.
The starry night ceiling was met with rave reviews from the judges, scoring an impressive 28.5 out of 30! Shaynna Blaze, esteemed judge and interior designer, even awarded a perfect 10/10.
'You've given me something I didn't know I wanted."
- Shaynna Blaze
The fans echoed the judges' sentiments, with the starry ceiling quickly becoming a fan favorite. Ronnie and Georgia celebrated the success of their home theatre room on social media, praising LightEFX for the stunning fiber optic starlight ceiling.
"When you know you're kicking serious ceiling goals - Fibre optic star light ceiling acoustic panels being installed by the legends over at LightEFX - without a doubt the hero of our room this week!" @ronnieandgeorgia
